How do we work?

Save the Children Sweden bases its work on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Its regional programme focuses on making children's rights a reality by promoting the appropriate institutional, social and cultural settings within the society and the State.

Initiatives supported by Save the Children Sweden are characterized by their credibility, by the possibility to be replicated, by the principle of experience sharing and the participation of children. We seek to strengthen local capacities for long term sustainabilty on the implemmentation and monitoring of Children's Rights, therefore no welfare assistance projects are funded, nor is financial support given to individual children.

Save the Children Sweden cherishes the principle of respect for the social and cultural context of the countries where it works, and seeks to promote a gender perspective, non-discrimination principles and tolerance for diverse local and national values, always in view of the Best Interest of the Child.

Through its work and that of its partners Save the Children Sweden produces and disseminates knowledge as a tool to influence decision makers, seeks public commitment to social change and strives to achieve long term outcomes for children.
